Blogging in the elementary school classroom is an assistive technology because it is a tool that helps students with disabilities improve their writing skills or English skills. Students with spelling or reading disabilities can be assisted by the computed, and students that are learning English as their second language can use this as practice. Blogging offers an alternate way of experiencing learning and practice; this also builds independence. Students in the elementary school classroom can learn to post their thoughts or essays assigned in class. They can also share their work by uploading it to their page or upload things from home such as vacation pictures. Blogging connects home and school, motivates children, involves parents and other family members since it can be seen from anywhere with internet, and encourages the children to do well because other people can see their work.
